Tooth infection and heart problems?!

Question:

Tooth infection and heart problems?

Can wisdom tooth infection cause heart problems within a short space of time, even if the tooth was treated with antibiotics?

I had a wisdom tooth infection, got antibiotics, saw dentist, he won't pull it for nerve damage risks, it is partially impacted. I then had mouth sores for a month, now got sinus tachycardia.

Had blood tests, nothing has shown up.

I didn't have a heart problem before, it started a couple of months back. I had the tooth infection in Feb. It was treated with antibiotics.

The dentist showed me the x ray of my teeth and said that the tooth has grown into the jaw bone and another part of it is resting on a nerve. He said that he was reluctant to send me to an oral surgeon because they would agree with him that it would cause nerve damage. he said, instead, if it bothers me again, because it is pretty much half above the gum that he would cut some of the gum away and stitch it. It is because my mouth is overcrowded that it has got this way.

My husband said that if the tooth affected the heart, it would have to have been untreated and very badly swollen first, i.e. an abcess.

Answers:

Infections in teeth can travel to other parts of the body. Heart included.
