Hygeniests need to understand math so they are able to administer anesthetics properly. Also math helps with diagnosing sulcus pockets, administering antibiotics to diseased sulcus pockets, etc.

Well, engineers use math. Math teachers use math. Dental hygienists use math. They have to know costs, payment for workers, number of supplies to order, ages of kids they're working on. Ask your dentist for more.
