Help... DENTIST?

sooo... Im going to the dentist and im getting my teeth cleaned and i havent been since i was little and i dont remember, What do they do??
And does it HURT?
help me please!!

Well if it has been that long since you had your teeth cleaned it may take them a while. THey will probably do x-rays and then the dental tech will start scraping all the hardened plaque off of your teeth. Since you did not keep up with your routine cleanings every 6 months it may take them a while to clean your teeth. Once the dental hygenist is done the dentist will come in and check your teeth for cavities or other problems. If you have any cavities or things that need to be taken care of they will set that up for another appointment. Getting your teeth cleaned does not really hurt but they can hit a tender spot once in a while. If it has been that many years without seeing a dentist they may even split your cleaning up in to two separate sessions so it doesn't bother you so bad. Once you get done with the cleaning IMMEDIATELY stop at the receptionist desk and schedule another cleaning for 6 months. If do this BEFORE you leave the dentist office you get back on schedule with getting your teeth cleaned and checked every 6 months.
