Braces??? Please help.?!

Question: Hi, I have some questions about braces because i'm going to have to get them soon =[.
First of all, What colours should I get? I have been told not to get clear because they turn yellow and not to get white because they stain. I am thinking Electric Blue and Purple.
Second, How much does it hurt?
Third, Does it cost to have the colours changed, and how Is it done, because I read you can have the colours changed at every appointment?
Lastly, I have to have a tooth exposed and turned before I can get the braces, so how long after surgery do you think it will be before I can become Braceface??
Sorry for the rather long question. I would appreciate any answers,
Thanks.

You should get whatever colors make you happy. Electric Blue and Purple sound amazing. Don't worry about choosing the "perfect colors" because everytime you go to the orthodontist, you will have the option to change them. They're just like little rubberbands that hold your wire in place, so to make adjustments, they have to be removed...plus...they don't stay strong for forever.
How much does it hurt? When you get your spacers, which is the first thing that happens, it will HURT, but only for a few days. The day after I had my spacers put in, my teeth hurt so bad, I couldn't even chew a muffin.
After they had all my braces on, my mouth hurt for a few days...didn't want to eat anything too hard.
And after that, every tightening got less and less painful.
Some people make it sound absolutely horrible...ir hurts sometimes...but it's not HORRIBLE. Don't worry. You'll be okay. :]
I don't know about the surgery thing. I didn't have to do any of that.
P.S...sometimes holding warm water in your mouth helps with the pain...and if you remember...take Tylonal before every apointment.

yeah something like electric blue would be awesome! go for it!

the only color that will turn yellow is white. and yes it will be sore after getting them, but not for very long. just take aspirin before getting them put on. and yes you get the colors changed every appointment but it doesn't cost anything. and it should probably only take around a month and a half after surgery to heal and have the braces put on.

good luck. =)

They don't hurt too much they're more annoying than anything. It's free to get the colors changed don't get black clear or white. and Idk about the surgery thing

Colors are your choice. I've had yellow, which faded after a while into an off-white but they still looked cool. I have some white ones right now, and they do get stained from what you eat, but gradually so no one really notices anything.
For me, it didn't hurt as much as the seperators that they put in for a three weeks or so before I actually got my braces on. Your gums/teeth will be tender, however, so don't bite anything really hard. Stick to softer foods.
No, every time you have a new appointment, they should change your rubber bands.
I'm not sure what you mean for you last question, but even then I'm not sure.

Braces aren't as bad as the illusion sets them. You just have to take care of your teeth, otherwise when your braces come off, your teeth will be discolored. =/ So brush twice a day at the least and try to floss every night. Good luck.

1) I think that all of the lighter colors stain... especially white and clear... From past experience, light blue turned to green. light pink turned almost yellow, etc. Electric Blue and Purple are good colors if you want to avoid having visible stains.

2) Getting braces does not hurt nearly as much as rubberbands...that may come later in the procedure. After the installation of braces you will probably have a really sore mouth for a week or so.

3)Changing the colors is tightening... In order to make the procedure effective, replacing the colors each month is neccesary. The estimate of the braces procedure should include the fees for replacing the colors.

4) I have no clue. :P

ok depending on how bad your teeth are crooked it wont hurt bad

but when you have spacers it will kill trust me

as for colors, they are pretty much rubber bands that go around each bracket and dont cost any extra money

and for colors anything looks fine but white...its pure white and makes your teeth look yellow

good luck

This is the perfect question because i just got braces a year ago

i was going to get white, but i found that they stain easily. If you don't want them to be very noticable, get light colors. I got light blue and no one really noticed

2nd, if you asking if it hurts when the bands are put on, no, the process of getting the braces on doesn't hurt, it might taste bad, but if you keep your tongue out of the way, you'll be fine. About a day after you get your braces it starts to hurt. At least for some. I only had pain for 4-5 days so. I suggest sticking to a soft diet (Soups, ice cream, smoothies, bananas, cheese, ect) until there is less pain and you can tolerate harder foods

and 3rd, no, it doesnt cost money.
the orthodontist will take the bracket and hook it onto the back and wire it around and will insert it into the small metal items on your teeth, the bands keep these together. They take a tool and loop it over and release it.

and you do get the bands changed every month because they get weak (so i've heard) and dirty

and lastly, i have no idea :( sorry

Hope that helps!

1. electric blue sounds cool
2.they only hurt for the day after you get them tightened (that is when they make the wire shorter or thicker depending)
3.it doesn't cost anything to get the colours changed.
4.the colours keep the wire in place so before they take the wire off they will take the colours off with this stick like thing. its quite quick and doesn't really hurt too much.
5. you can only get them changed every appointment. my were every 6 weeks
6. not sure about the last question sorry

good luck

Doesn't matter what color you pick, the cost is the same.

When you change elastics, the stain will no longer be an issue.
