Do yourself a big favor and make sure your dentist prescribes some heavy-duty pain meds. I would take at least one *before* the pain sets in.

Don't worry about the actual procedure, though, you won't feel a thing. You may feel a tugging sensation, but not actual pain. If you do feel pain, inform your doc so he can give you another shot of novacaine. And, yes, do be sure to get nitrous oxide (laughing gas) as it will relax you and take away the anxiety. Also, there is a pill he can prescribe for you to take about one hour before the work is done (you would need to pick it up at the pharmacy before your appointment) which will sort of put you out and you will have little or no memory of it at all. Lotsa luck. :)

P.S. Don't try to drive yourself home afterwards. Also, have the doc give your driver the instructions on how to care for yourself afterward; you will not remember anything he says.

wtf! WHY!

Your dentist will give you something for the pain.

It will be okay, as long as you make sure they numb you enough. I also suggest that you get put to sleep or have laughing gas. It will probably take maybe around an hour. Afterwards take either 3 ibuprophen or medicines that the dentist prescribe, and rest.
Good luck!!

when mine was done it took about an hour and a half, a good pain pill, and popsicles. mine was done by an oral surgeon

The dentist wil give you something for the pain my little sister had hers done a week ago don't worry she didn't feel a thing believe me i aked her i am having mine pulled soon lol also for the pain afterwards when you get home the best thing to do is this put on your fave movie get a glass of water incase you want a drink (just take sips it helps) then lay down in bed for a couple of hours with a hot water bottle wrapped in a pillow case or a blanket placed lightly against your cheek after a little while there won't be any pain my sister did this and she felt better after having those couple of hours to recouperate after having her teeth done.
The dentist should also prescribe some antibiotics or pain killers for later.
Good luck :P

Get clarification from the dentist. He/she is the one who can tell you this. The entire procedure might take a couple of hours, depending on how many teeth are extracted. The dentist will prescribe pain killers for you. Take them as directed. The dentist will also give you detailed instructions about oral care after the procedure. Make sure to follow them to the letter in order to avoid complications.

Good luck to you. I've had a similar experience.
