Yeah you will be fine to go to school. It's not that painful it's just more really weird. They do hury when they adjust them and stuff but other then that it's just kinda gross and weird. Good luck.

braces dont hurt when you first get it, but it depends what you eat, and it may hurt depending on what you eat.
but dont worry. just stay calm

Do not, I repeat DO NOT go to school on the first day. I did and felt horrible. Take an advil or the like before going to your ortho so that it kicks in while you are getting them on. Stock up the fridge with pudding and smoothies and mashed potatos because thats all you are going to be able to eat that day. The next day is better but dont try to eat anything hard or chewy. Your ortho will probably give you tips on what not to eat as well.
Good luck

Yep the first two people are right - you have nothing to worry about. It doesn't hurt to have them put on...they might be a little sore for a couple days, but nothing major - just stay away from real hard foods (I know from experience it's not a lot of fun eating oreos).

When you first get your braces, its going to be a long process. Be prepared to be there for at least an hour. It's going to be somewhat painful because you won't be use to it. As eating food goes, you will need to eat soft things the fist couple of days. The dentist will tell you what you can eat or can't eat. Don't worry, just relax. I was nervous when I got my braces. It might be a painful and annoying to wear braces now, but in the long run you will have a beautiful straight smile.

When I got mine I had an early appointment, so I had to go to school too. The only thing that really hurt for me was when the braces brushed up against the inside of my lip, but you can ask them for wax after they put them on and you can't really feel it. If hurts if you eat hard food sometimes, so you should only eat soft foods for a while until it stops hurting. Don't worry, thought, it only hurts for a few days!! Hope this helped and good luck!!! ;-)

By the way, you CAN go to school. I have no idea what these people are talking about! I went and I was fine!

after you have them put on your teeth feel a little tight, a few days maybe and your gums may be a little sore but not so uncomfortable you cant stand it. I had my braces put on in the morning and then went to a funeral, on a scale of 1-10 I would say the uncomfortableness would be about 4-5. Take some tylenol before you have it done that way it will have taken affect by the time they're on. You should be able to go to school but remember if you're having them on at 9:20 you wont be done for awhile , cant remember exactly how long, but atleast an hour or so. Good luck!!

Well join the club! I am getting braces and teeth extractions.
Dont be nervous-My friend fainted after they put her braces and herbst appliance in because she was really nervous. Not to painful. You would be in a state of mind where you want to eat Jello 24/7. HAHA. Your mouth wont look big- just remember you could possibly have Perfect celebrity teeth after the treatment. If anyone makes fun of you when you get back tell a teacher or principal because that probably happened to them in the past. You should be OK to go back to school. If any discomfort continues after you get them on ask your parent to keep u home or if u r at school go to the nurses office to get an asprin or wax.
Good Luck Girl!
