Sensitive to air???!

Question:

Sensitive to air???

Whenever I go to the dentist or orthodontist and they blow that air in my mouth, my mouth starts to hurt like crazy. Even when I eat cold things too...anyone know what is wrong with me and what I can do to make it stop?
Thanks in advance.

Don't worry your not the only one. This sounds like something call hypersensitivity. This can be caused by a number of different things. Mainly when you have recession (when gums recede and/or cementum is not present). Enamel covers the entire upper portion of the tooth=what we can see, it is very strong and protective. The cementum covers the root surface of the tooth, which is anchored in bone=what we can't see. Cementum is not nearly as strong or protective as the enamel surface. So when any type of thermal changes occur, hot or cold, the tooth responds, thus giving a painful sensation that lasts a few seconds.
Simple solution, try using Sensodyne t'paste, or Crest has a sensitivity t'paste as well. Important thing to note, it will not go away overnight, you need to stick with it for a week or two. Not to worry about changing back to your regular t'paste. The two brands I mentioned above can replace your old brand, indefinitely.
If this does not help then you may want to consult with your dentist or ortho at the next visit. There is a prescription strength t'paste for the same symptoms you listed.
Hope this helped :)
