Answers: and then get a crown, how many years can the crown last, and why is a crown needed
I've heard recently from a dentist , the rule is, you always need a root canal when the pain in your tooth never goes away this is what I need done, Also this same tooth is fractured so he put a temporary crown over my tooth, until I decide what to do. So when I come back in 2 wks, to have my permenant crown put in, then I tell him what I decide on the root canal. The crown is suppose to last a long time, but I don't know how long.
Root canal involves the removal of quite a bit of the tooth. The crown is needed to seal it back up. They can last for decades.
A crown is a fake tooth. It can last for many years, unless it is cracked or damaged from use or facial injury. You need a crown because when you have a root canal, your natural tooth is drilled down and reamed out; you basically have no natural tooth left.
