No you don't, not even for that long...just til your dentist tells you when it's alright to stop using them. Retainers aren't even that bad...just make sure you wear them when you're supposed to and don't constantly play with them in your mouth....that's what I did and my teeth got spaced apart all over again!
No. The Orthodontist will tell you how long to wear it and when/how often during that time.

some people have minor problems still left with their teeth and wear a retainer, usually at night for 6minths to 2 years, to fix the problem.
i think it is doubtful you will get a retainer for EVER.
When I had my braces removed, I had a removable retainer for my top teeth that I was instructed to wear for about a year or so. I had a permanent retainer installed behind my front bottom teeth that is still there, 14 years later. It hasn't been a problem and most of the time I forget it's there.
no you dont need to wear anything once they are done
my son has been wearing his braces for 4 years now and he has had enough
they are glued in , i am sure they are messing him around 4 years of braces would drive me mad
my orthodonist said id wear it my whole life. first 24/7, then nights, then occasionally. <:P
