You'll get retainers afterward. A lot of people talk about how slimy and big the teeth feel after the braces come off. Once mine were off, it took a day or two to get used to, then it was like WOW! my teeth look so much better now!
Oh, and the color unevenness. This should not be a problem if you brushed your teeth at least twice a day. I did and my teeth did not come out discolored at all once my braces were off. It all depends on how good you take care of them while you have braces.
wow, don't do that. its too big of a process for you do to that on your own and it will really hurt and you will have crap left on your teeth that you wont know how to get off because you arent supposed to take them off. dont take them off yourself
I never had braces, but everyone I know complained about the color unevenness of their teeth. Ask your orthodontist the best way to correct that.

I got my braces off I while ago. I didn't feel any "sliminess" like people say, just wonderful comfort. LOL I wanted to get my teeth whitened after, because they were just a little discolored (I had the braces for 4 years) but the whitening last a few weeks. Anyhow, they gave me retainers that I only wore 1 year when I was suppose to keep them in for 2. Some of my teeth have gone a little crooked now, but that is my fault. WEAR THE RETAINERS!! If you find you have a hard time remembering to wear them, or just don't want to, go back to your orthodontist and have them put in permanently (well until they say you don't need them anymore, then they will be removed.) I wish I would have done this, now (I'm 25) I need to get Invisalign or something to fix them again. Congrats on getting them off!!!
