Wisdom Teeth Recovery questions...?!

Question: So, I got my two bottom wisdom teeth pulled last Friday. They came in almost a year ago around when I turned 18. Anyway its now the fourth day of recovery. Where my left tooth was removed (on the bottom in the back) there isn't much pain, the hole seems to be sealing up or recovering fine.

The right side is the one I'm worried about, it looks more like a hole with darkish matter inside, around the hole are some white bumps sort of (I think the stitches broke or are coming out). There's no excruciating pain but it's been getting a little worse lately. The painkillers still help.

Is it OK if food gets into the sites as long as I rinse? I don't want to touch or use something to remove food specks/pieces if its not necessary. Is my recovery normal?

The darkish matter would be the blood clot i imagine and the white bits might be some bits of bone left behind. I had mine out last August and its unavoidable food getting caught. Used to annoy me so i'd gently get them out whether it was rinsing or using my tongue a little. Keep doing what you were told and give it a few more days.

I would call the dentist. Everything sounds normal, but you shouldn't be eating solid foods yet, should you?

you are fine

Check with your dentist, it could be an absess (i don't know how to spell that, sorry) or it could just be food. When i had mine out, i had a serious obsession with keeping the holes clean and i was using a pick to get stuff out of the them -- which is a very very bad idea, but i told my dentist what i was doing and he gave me this little plastic syringe looking thing that i could gently squirt water into the hole with to flush the food out...maybe ask about that...good luck.
