I just got my braces off, but i still there is still a gap in between my two fro!

I just got my braces off, but i still there is still a gap in between my two front teeth?

my orthodontist said that it is because my teeth shape is that and that it'll be like that. i was just wondering if he was correct or not. He also told me that the gap is genetic related and that i have to wear this wire on the back of my two front teeth for life.

will having my retainers tighten help because i want the gap to close and i dont mind wearing my retainer at night every night. i dont want to spend anymore money and i'm going back to my orthodontist next week so that i can get my retainer checked out and everything.

I am in the same boat as you, unfortunately my dad passed his gap on to me and after 6 years of braces I still have a minor gap. The wire will keep the gap from opening any further and wearing your retainer will help too.
