How can I get rid of gingivitis at home?!

Question:

How can I get rid of gingivitis at home?

Is it just brushing more at the gum line, flossing, and mouth wash? Or are there other things I should do to speed up the process?
Thanks!

Answers:

Avoiding gingivitis is all about brushing the germs off your teeth, tongue and gums and keeping them off for as long as possible.

The less your teeth and gums are exposed to those germs, the less likely you will develop gingivitis and tooth decay. These germs manifest themselves as this sticky white film or mass that accumulates along your gumlines and in the spaces between your teeth, and they grow on the food debris on your teeth after meals. The longer they stay on your teeth, the more damage they are doing.

That means you need to brush after every meal and before bed, not at random times through the day. And you need to do it thoroughly.

The bacterial plaque also hardens into tartar, which you cannot brush off. That's why you need to visit the dentist every 6 months for a cleaning. If you already have tartar that is causing gingivitis, there is nothing you can do at home to make that better-- A dentist or hygienist has to scrape it off for you.

Hope this helps.
