Question:

Had 3 wisdom teeth removed Tuesday, one on bottom right is very painful, is this normal?

Had 2 upper wisdom teeth, and one lower impacted wisdom tooth removed Tuesday. It is now Friday and I am having ALOT of pain from the lower one. All of my teeth on the lower right side are hurting (in fact throbbing) and my ear and jaw on that side are also hurting. Is this normal?

I have also been taking my antibiotics like I'm supposed. But I have been smoking since the evening of the surgery but I have been careful not to "suck" too hard on the cigarrette. Also my pain has not been relieved by the pain medicine I am taking. (Percocet) I called my oral surgeon yesterday and they did not seem concerned and only said they could not work me in to be seen and that the pain is usually the worst around the third or fourth day. What is a dry socket and how do you know if you have one?

Answers:

Yes and no... it could be from the force they had to use to remove it... OR you could have a dry socket... call your Dentist.
