Do braces hurt???!

Question: I am getting braces in a few days, and I am scareddddd because I heard they hurt...Do they? When do they hurt? How bad, on a scale from 1 to 10? And do they really hurt, as in pain, or are they more irritating/uncomfortable? Do they hurt when you get them on or after and for how long? I'm scared of pain, but please be honest lol

Calm down! It'll be OK I promise. I'm sure you know lots of people who have had braces and they were fine so u will be 2. They don't really hurt, it's more like they are just sore for a couple days. You just can't eat anything too hard during this time. I remember I had a fruit slushie after I got mine on and that helped a little. So to answer you question, it isn't so much pain as it is irritating and soreness... On a scale of 1 to ten... I'm trying to remember...maybe like a 6?

If you want the truth listen up.It feels like someones pulling on all your teeth that the brackets touch. There is absolutely no way you can eat anything harder than poridge for the first two days. After a week or two yourmouth will feel back to normal.

from my experience, braces do not hurt, BUT RETAINERS KILL.

Same hear i also want to know. i have no clue if they hurt or not

my friend had them she told me they were irritating and did hurt but that was back in the day so idk bout todays braces u knooww

Braces start to hurt a couple of hours after you get them put on and hurt for a long time. Mine hurt to the point that I couldn't eat bread for a long time. They will stop hurting after a while until you get them tightened. When you get them off it doesn't hurt at all.

they hurt the first week an then they stop i would go with 5 their irrigating and they hurt. try invisible braces there removable!

not really my nephew just got his a few months ago you can't see them. he is at the dentist right now for a check up.he says now and then a little sore but not like it used to be times have changed.you will be fine don't worrie

i feel your pain, i got them on a few months ago. they hurt when you get them on and when you get them tightened, and a few days after, but nothing too bad. and after a while your teeth have already done the major moving and now they're just getting used to it. the worst it will probably get would be like a 6/10. theyre more uncomfotable for the most part. when the really hurt just take tylonol and you'll be fine

it depends, if you get top and bottom at the same time like i did it hurts for about 5 days and you can't eat much except for soup and mac and cheese. if you only get the top or just the bottom then it only hurts for a few days.. it takes about a week to get used to it but other than that it's okay. i took tylenol to help and it did help the pain. it's probably like a 5 on a scale of 1-10

to the point: YES THEY HURT. But not all the time

They will hurt you for 4 - 7 days when they are first put on.

After that, they only hurt when you go in to get them tightened/adjusted.

While they're hurting just eat soup, mashed potatoes, etc. SOFT things. Biting into things (like a burger or sandwhich) is going to hurt so don't even try!

If your Orthodontist gives you those rubber bands to wear also, don't be embarassed, WEAR THEM ! They shorten the amount of time you'll have braces.
I had crooked teeth on top and bottom AND an overbite; I got braces, wore those rubber bands like I was supposed to, and I got my braces off in 13 months. Shortest time of anyone I know !!

Congratulations - when you're all done you are going to have a tremendous amount of confidence talking to people. :-)
