Getting my teeth pulled. help!?!
Question: all four of my molars are getting pulled (2 at a time) in May. I'm scared to tears about what the procedure's going to be like. My brother, a tough, huge, grin-and-bear-it kind of guy had it done in high school and after the procedure, he was crying and complaining of a rotting feeling and pain.
Do they put you to sleep?
Will it hurt during the procedure? after?
What happens?
Tell me your experience, if possible.

I just had two teeth pulled yesterday, stitches and all. I was so nervous and scared about the whole thing my blood pressure shot up too high and they gave me laughing gas to calm me down. I wanted to be put out, but after the gas started, I didn't care. I was totally numb, and felt nothing, well I felt GOOD:) I almost went to sleep! When the numbing wore off, my mouth started to hurt a little , but I'm not taking anything for pain, (I can't have my kids and be drugged) and it doesn't hurt bad enough too, but every one is different. They will give you vicodin or an equivalent, which helps. I listened to all the horror stories and got all worked up for nothing. I'm just watching out for dry socket, I smoke and can't wait 2 days. I'm sure you'll do fine, I didn't think I'd make it out alive, and now I'm laughing at how freaked out I was. Good Luck. Hope all goes well.
They don't put you to sleep, lol.
You will get a shot so you won't feel anything for a couple of hours. Depending on the dentist, you may get gas or you can request it.
Having teeth pulled is not really that bad. You will get something for pain, but its an easy recovery! Good luck!
everyone takes it differently. i'm a pain WIMP and i was absolutely fine. they put me under which helped a lot (talk to your dentist, most are open to putting you under if you request it) and i was sent home with some pain medication if my pain was out of control but i never once took a pill. don't freak out though, you'll get through it :-) best wishes
they dont put you to sleep
BUT they give you needles WHICH I SWEAR DONT HURT AT ALL OR FEEL LIKE ANYYYTHING!..... you could ask for a pill which makes you sleep..i know some dentists dot hat
nothing will hurt.... your mouth will be sore after for a few days..puffy too
yellow bruises occur after a week..no biggie
If you are going to an oral surgeon they could put you to sleep if you choose to be .The procedure itsself should not hurt you should be numb .After the procedure you may have some pain and definately soreness .This is also a common area for a dry socket and you will want to be very careful. A day or so after the exstactions warm salt water rinses as often as possible will help with soreness and speed up healing .
