What is this? My friend had a thing that was like a box on the roof of her mouth when she had braces, it was supposed to expand her teeth. She said that it hurt, cause they had a key and had to tighten it every night...or something like that. It hurt her to get it taken off, too, she said, maybe an 8. But Im not sure we're talking about the same thing.
It hurt me more when it was being turned at night. Your mouth will heal fast. It is a lot better to have the palate expander than the alternative, which is jaw surgery. Trust me, I'm in dental school now. I would take that expander over surgery any day.
