If it's affecting your life so badly, it is probably worth it to get is checked out. Your pain could be from a bad tooth, grinding at night, a joint disorder, or other more serious things. All of which can be treated. If it is a TMJ (temperomandibular joint) disorder, medications like anti-inflammatorys or certain antidepressants can help immensly.

Jaw pain is very common, us as dentists however only diagnose jaw pain as a TMJ disorder if it is significantly affecting the patients life negatively. From your question it sounds like it is.

It is also very possibly that you have some bad decay and an abscessed tooth. In that case, since you have low income, the cheapest option is to get the tooth out.

One way to check if it is a tooth is to take something hard, like a fork handle, and just tap lightly on the teeth, if one hurts really bad when you do this, there is an infection in the fibers holding the teeth, signaling that some bacteria must have entered the nerve of your tooth, probably from a large cavity.

Bottom line, if it hurts bad enough, go get it checed out. And if your income is low enough, definitely apply for medicaid, there cover just about all dental work at no cost to you.

GOOD LUCK

go to the dentist or doctors or even the er.

Do you have any type of insurance? I would look into medicaid if you don't, as they cover most anything depending on your income/marital status, etc.

If you do have insurance, or you don't wish to try medicaid, call around and see if you can find a decent price to get in to see a dentist. Even if it costs a lot, most places are really good about working out a payment plan.

put ice pack n then warm cloth
not sure tho

are your teeth hurting to? is it just one side? you might want to buy a cheap mouthgruard, see if it helps. you might want to contact the community center, they have sliding scales, i been seen at them for like 1o bucks, hey might know a cheap dental place to, maybe a dental school.
