Calcified Calculus/ Plaque?!

Question:

Calcified Calculus/ Plaque?

Can a dentist remove Calcified calculus/ plaque? What is their procedure to remove calcified calculus?

Answers:

Yes a dentist can remove both, by scaling the tooth with an instrument.
Plaque(bacteria) is the white, soft stuff on your teeth. When you brush and floss daily, this is what you are trying to remove. If the plaque is allowed to stay on the tooth over a period of time, undisturbed, meaning you continue to miss the area when brushing or flossing, the plaque will become "calcified" and stuck to the tooth. When it becomes calcified, it is no longer soft, it is hard. Then it is called calculus, or tarter. At this point brushing and flossing will not remove the calculus (which is full of very harmful bacteria).
So..without the presence of plaque you can not get calculus.
