Is this pain normal and how to not think of the pain?!

Question: When I press down hard on the left side of my bottom teeth while wearing a retainer, sometimes it hurts. Is it suppse to hurt? The x-ray showed that nothing is wrong. My dentist said the nerves are very close to my teeth, so do you think that's why? If I wear it, it doesn't hurt. It's only if I press down on it too hard sometimes. Is that normal? I am so paranoid of the pain, I keep pressing down on it. Any suggestions on how to forget about the pain?

Wow the same thing happens to me! Your dentist is right abou the nerves being close to the teeth. And i think when you're wearing your retainer it moves the teeth in a position a little closer to the nerves making it more sensitive.. It's nothing to worry about! If I were you just don't press down on it and you probably won't think about it! haha or think about how awesome the person is that helped you out on your question!!

Good luck with that tooth! :D smilee

maybe stupid but quit pressing on it

Maybe your teeth aren't used to the retainer yet. Give it some time also rember that it's trying to keep your teeth together. So it's going to cause some pain at first for at least a month until your month gets used to it.
