Bottom retainer has cut my gum?!

Question: Just got used to wearing my retainers, but my bottom one has cut the right side of my gum behind my bottom teeth near the bottom of my mouth. Wondering if this is normal or if I should head to the orthodontist to make sure it is fitting correctly.

Your retainer could be too loose, or it just dosent fit properly. Until you get to go to the dentist, there is this moldable dental wax that you put on the sharp edge of your retainer or braces. It holds you over until you get to go to the dentist. =] And also, you dont have to sue the dentist. They know what they are doing. ;]

call ur ortho!

sue them!

check with your parents and orthodontist

go to ortho

see the ortho to make sure it fits right
in the meantime wash with some peroxyl (anitseptic mouth wash) and apply some orabase

good luck

I have a retainer right now and I suggest you just let it heal for now. If you HAVE to, leave it out for a night. If it really becomes a problem, I suggest going to see your orthodontist.
G'luck!

yeah call the ortho. that shouldn't happen thats bad eather you have a bent piece or its too big

yea.... you should definitely check that out. they can always just fix it for you and you wont be in pain or have cit gums anymore

why ask us? ask your doctor!

go to the orthodontist they can fix it......dont keep wearing it could possibly start up an infection....you can wear the top one though

I think you do get cut a little. My friend's dentist used to give her wax to rub on the sharp bits.
