I've just had a filling replaced and I've got toothache. Will it go away!

Question: I'm taking pain killers for the pain but it's a nuissance.

Answers: I'm taking pain killers for the pain but it's a nuissance.

I'd go back if it persists sounds like they hit a nerve the new filling could be hitting it!!

Sometimes they touch a nerve when filling a tooth and it takes a few days for the nerve to settle down.

Yes, the nerve is a little traumatised but will soon settle down, if it persists then go back and beat the living crap out of the dentist.

That does depend. if the filling was large one then it could just be your tooth settling down and by Monday it will be fine. Ont he other hand you could have a problem with an infection or something not right.
Take painkillers and see what happens over the next 24 hours. If it gets worse you have a problem.

just to let you know you aren't alone i had one out and im waiting for the pain killers to kick in its proper sore, but with you give it a day then go back if its still playing you up.

This happened to me. It seems the dentist exposed the nerve on the tooth next to the one she was working on. Cost me a fortune in having to undertake root canal work and have it crown. Its never been right and has cost me a mint! Keep going back if it isnt improving and have them check the whole area. Meanwhile you need to take painkillers.
