without spending so much money?Ive used crest white strips, but i dont really have the money to go spend 40 dollars on that right now.. does peroxide work?

Try this, put some baking soda in a small plastic container with lid and keep next to your toothpaste. Also Have the hydrogen peroxide always in the bathroom.
Put (non fluoride, fluoride damages your thyroid) toothpaste on your brush and press it into the baking soda and brush. Your teeth will get REALLY slick and clean. Then after your thoroughly finish brushing swish and brush with the Hydrogen Peroxide, brush you tongue also.
The peroxide will heal any small soreness in your mouth and help whiten your gums. I have used it for 40 years and it does a very nice job.
Trust me whitening at the dentist does not cost as little as $40.00. That is an extreme under estimate.
