Is toothpaste ok for cleaning retainers on a daily basis?!

Question: Are we suppose to clean our retainers with toothpaste every day and then rinse it with warm water? I do that every night. I started seeing a little stain on the plastic retainer. If I keep cleaning it like that, will it damange the retainer? I would ask my ortho but he's taking his yearly vacation and won't e back till like two weeks later and I don't want to take any chances.

Yes, definitely clean if with toothpaste once everyday or so. Just use the foam left on your toothbrush after you brush your teeth.
Only use cold water though. My orthodontist always told me to wash it with cold water. I can't really tell you why though.
I think that the white stain could be built-up something. Try scrubbing it off if you can. If you can't get it off, you should be able to wait till your orthodontist gets back. You sounds like you're trying to take good care of you retainer(s)...keep it up!

well cold water is best because to hot can melt it but my orthodontist told me to brush mine daily with toothpaste and mouthwash also works if it smells hope that helps!!

yeahh suree dat should be fine is just toothpaste

My dentist told me not to. Because toothpaste kind of abrasives surfaces, so like kind of exfoliating, so when it is used on the retainer it will get like gross and milky.

You'll be fine honey. Toothpaste will not harm your retainer, and neither will warm water.

I cannot imagine that you're going to be rinsing the retainer with water hotter than 500 degrees, which would be required to melt the retainer; so don't worry.

You're doing everything great!

Remember, toothpaste helps your teeth and gums, it's not harmful to plastics.

Just make sure you are brushing with a soft toothbrush and are careful not to bend the wires! :)

yes it is OK to clean Ur retainers on a daily basis. since u have a plastic retainer DO NOT use mouthwash u can damage it. and don't rinse with warm water. i just got my braces off and i have the same retainers

I was told not to as it damages the retainers, but I supose it depends on the type.
