Do you enjoy being a Dental hygenist?!

Question: I've been in the dental profession over 20 years. in those 20 years i worked as a registered dental assistant, and for the last 12 as a registered dental hygienist. as an rdh i have enjoyed the treatment aspect. but as far as the dentist are concerned they can be a little hard to work for. i was unlucky in that area in that the dentist i worked for thought i was making way to much and not doing enough. it was either why didn't your patient show up? or why didn't you do more on that patient? why aren't you working faster? blah, blah ,BLAH. it got so bad that i quit both dentist and i now temp for two offices. in other words these two left a bad taste in my mouth, literally. the profession is a great one if your lucky enough to work in an office where the dentist values what you bring into the office and he/she appreciate your work and opinion. temping has provided that for me for the time being, i do plan on going back full time not just yet though. i guess like in any job there is pros and cons, i miss the relationships i had with my co-workers and patients though. thanks for the question, i'm wondering are you an rdh with the same gripes?
be well

I don't know about a hygienist, but I LOVE being a Dental Assistant. I can't think of any cons, but the pros are: No weekends, steady job, great hours, great pay, comfortable clothes, comfortable shoes, variety of job duties, lots of fun, see lots of interesting things, help people feel better.
