Need wisdom tooth removed, but I don't have insurance.?!

Question: I live in Oklahoma. I'm not sure what's wrong with my wisdom tooth, but it seems to have grown in just enough to break through the gum. It's been doing this for months. It grows in a little, then goes back down. I know it's weird. Now it's doing it again, and it really hurts this time. Not to mention, I think it's causing me to have bad breath. I think food must get stuck in there or something. Yuck! Anyways, how much will it cost me to have it removed? Will a dentist take me even though I don't have insurance? Will they all accept payment plans? Thanks.

The food thing is exactly right its yukky food under the flap of gum tissue and it definitely causes bad breath as well as gum inflammation and soreness clean well back there and rinse with salt water one teaspoon of salt to a glass of warm water this will help with soreness and keeping area clean will help with bad breath now as for getting wisdom teeth out I live in east TN.and most places will arrange payments here but do not stretch them out over a long period of time maybe three months or so probably would be best to go to a dentist and just have a consult this is usually inexpensive or free just to consult you may need to have some x-rays so the dentist can determine exactly how close these teeth are to being in alignment with other teeth and if it will require an oral surgeon to remove them and also talk with him about finances maybe if you were willing to sign an agreement to pay so much per month they will work with you .GOOD LUCK

In Canada most dentists will accept payment options. If you approach them alone sometimes they will do it allot cheaper if you tell them you don't have insurance.
Good Luck.

Yes most dentists, or dental surgeons, will accept payment plans. You need to go shopping for a good dental surgeon.

You also might find a free dental clinic or a School of Dentistry at a university nearby. They will do the job for little or no cost to you.

Whom ever you select, be sure to ask if you need to have antibiotics on hand. Infections can occur no matter where you go. Good Luck!!

Most dentists will accept and paymant plan. But if you don't have Insurance, you might want to check into Ameriplan. I have this and its great. I have saved up to 80% on most of my procedures and the best part is there are no limits as to what you have done or paperwork to fill out. They cover everything, even cosmetic procedures. The plan only costs $19.95 a month, plus we get free Vision, Pharmacy and Chiropractor care for free!! My friend is enrolling people right now and I know that she is offering the registration fee back for free if you sign up with her.

Yes, they will accept payment plans. But most dentist's won't accept new patients unless they are under 6 years old. So you may have problems getting a dentist.

If there is a dental school in your area, call and find out if they have a clinic where you can go in & the students will work on you. (This is kind of like getting a haircut at the Barber or Beauty School.) The students work under the supervision of instructors.

This may be too serious a job for students. If so, talk frankly with an oral surgeon about a payment plan. If he/she is a good person, he/she will not let you suffer because of lack of insurance.

Your city might also have providers of low cost medical and dental care for low-income people. You will have to track this down. In Indianapolis, we have a 211 phone number you can call for all kinds of needs.

Good luck!

Look in the phone book or a local paper as there are dentists that advertise they take patients with no insurance and there are ones that offer NEW patient specials. They should be willing to work with no insurance as this sounds like you have a possible impacted wisdom tooth. You need to have that removed , you could get an infection in the gums otherwise.
I would not wait too long on that as that can be a big problem.

The pain will get worse if you postpone going to one.Call and see who you can get into the soonest. You might need an oral surgeon . They work with no insurance too. I had a tooth removed due to repeat problems and the surgeon took out some infected tissue to stop that as well but didn't charge extra for this as I told them I had no insurance. They billed me and will work with that from there. That tooth for me was $210 here, but it was not your usual removal. It was a crowned upper tooth. Those can be trickier as they are nearer to the sinus opening. All went well, oral surgeons are skilled at what they do.They do that every day.

My family uses a discount plan, maybe it could help you too!
