Chipped front tooth, what can I do?!

Question:

Chipped front tooth, what can I do?

One of my front teeth has a bit that has kind of "flaked" off the front (as my dentist put it). I have no idea when and how it happened. All I know is that it is at least 3 years old. The part where it has chipped off is about 2mm by 2mm.

I'm worried that it may discolor, or that it is unstable and prone to chipping off.

Also, because part of the tooth is thinner, is it more likely to decay, without the enamel?

Can I/ should I cap the whole tooth?

Sorry if that was hard to understand, it's difficult to explain exactly.

Thanks in advance.

Answers:

You can either have it bonded- that is where they build up the tooth, a crown put on, or a veneer. Bonding beng the cheapest route, crown second, and veneers being most costly.
