Yes, it can. As long as it is "mild gingivitis" and you don't have periodontal disease, you should be able to self-treat using all the methods you described. Brush with a soft brush and floss after each meal. Additionally, you might also want to try a diluted hydrogen peroxide rinse. You should also make sure you're getting your teeth cleaned regularly--every 6 months.

All those things are essential for treating and controlling gingivitis. Your dentist should make a decision as to what kind of cleaning is necessary. Gingivitis is a disease of degrees. Almost everyone has some degree of inflammation. If it has progressed to severe inflammation, then a "deep cleaning" is necessary.

Gingivitis can be easily reversed with improved oral hygiene, regular brushing and flossing can remove the plaque and bacteria causing gingivitis causing the inflammation to stop.
Deep cleaning is indicated for a condition more advanced than gingivitis, what's called periodontitis.
periodontitis is almost always associated with gingivitis and bleeding gums. you need to visit a dentist to make sure that you don't have a periodontal disease.
Unless it reaches an advanced stage, periodontal disease (periodontitis) can present with no symptoms to the patients other than gingivitis, or some bleeding on brushing.
if your dentist already informed you that you have mild gingivitis, then simply good home care (brushing twice for 2mins + flossing) will cure it.
Good Luck.

Yes, floss, brush and mouthwash daily with HYDROGEN PEROXIDE. It is very healing and will heal you gums.
Get them healthy then go get your teeth cleaned.

When I get it, I usually brush and floss really well, then gargle with one part warm water and one part peroxide. You should also consider using a water pic. It keeps your gums really healthy.
