Dental Amalgams: What countries have banned them?
...and why?

If it's safe, then why are there videos such as this that show the mercury vapor escaping? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t9qep-nss...
Answers:
Funny. I was just checking this out because I had one dentist telling me my amalgams had to go and others -- 2nd opinions, including some here on Yahoo Answers - telling me, no, don't do it unless the fillings have actually failed.
According to the American Dental Association, no other countries have banned amalgams and they are safe to use (the mercury in them is stable).
The YouTube video: Where does that come from? The American Dental Association website cites studies published in peer-reviewed journals and the like. I lean toward believing those.
Also, I think you also have to consider that dentists have a financial interest in telling people to replace their amalgam fillings. The one who told me I should was going to charge me $26,000!
