II just got a top denture because my teeth were bad and verry verry painfull. It is verry hard to eat with your teeth falling out of your mouth. so chewing would be my answer.

mastication so you can properly digest your food and move it through along the Esophagus and through out your entire digestive system. You can basically say it's the first step of digestion.
They are also there so that your maxillary and mandibular jaw wont collapse.
It also gives you a nice smile so you are pleasant to look at.
