I lost my taste buds after using Listerine Antiseptic Mouth wash. Do they grow b!

Question: I used the mouth wash after brushing my teeth 5 days ago and when i went to eat food the next morning i noticed i couldnt taste anything. To this day i STILL cant taste my food. I can only barely taste it in the back of my mouth when i'm about to swallow my food. Will my taste buds grow back? I'm scared they're gone forever. Im going to sue Listerine if i dont get them back. =(

It has been five days right ? Okay. First of all taste buds are very sensitive. At the same time listerine is also very harsh. Listerine has alcohol a good percentage and other chemical materials which numb the taste buds. Many people even complain about burning mouth -- I had it for quite some time. I know this for sure that many dentists and periodontists now recommend that you dilute it with water I would say preferably half and half and then use it, but no, not in your case. Since your taste buds have been affected, very hopefully and definitely only temporarily I would suggest you take vitamin C 500 mgs. every morning with breakfast and also take B-Complex tablets one similarly. B-Complex should never be taken at night. It is a metabolic (cell repairing vitamin), and so is vitamin C. Wait for a week or so. The fact that you can taste at the back of your mouth shows some improvement. Things should improve. They are bound to improve. In the meantime light salt water mouth rinses will also help. Salt is alkaline, and alcohol (in listerine) is acidic. So once the inflammation is over, you will be tasting all the delicacies all the time. Nowadays you get many a good non-alcoholic mouth washes and mouth rinses start using them, but only after your taste buds become normal. If after one week the symptoms do not get any better I would say you should see an oral surgeon (mouth diseases doctor.) I wish you all the best. And best taste.

Sounds like a "budding" lawsuit you've got there!

lol dont you worry, your taste buds will be back ;)

Right.

IT wasn't the Listerine.

a teeth whitening compound did the same to me, took a good half week to a week to get back to normal

OMG that happened to me when I was a kid. My mom convinced me to use listerine because she said it would kill the bacteria in my mouth so when i finally did, I couldnt taste anything anymore! I was so pissed at her and she felt really bad cuz she didnt know what to do.
It took about 2 weeks before I tasted things normally again. I could only taste really salty or spicy foods before I got my taste buds back.
I'm sure theyll come back after a couple weeks. Hang in there! :D
