Dental Medicine, Schooling and a good degree FULL POINTS IF ANSWERED CORRECTLY!!!

Question: Alright, so I'm interested in being a dentist. I'm 16 and not sure that many people are interested in this at 16 but I am. I would really love to help people with their dental needs. Making their smile shine.

Alright so I have a few questions to ask

In high school what classes should I be taking or trying to get extra credits in for being a dentist

What should I major in in College

What should I be doing right now ( Or in the next few weeks ) for reasearching, learning about types of denstistry and all things I can do.

And most important I need colleges around the Indianapolis, Chicago, Columbus or New Jersey area. I live in Indianapolis so all would be helpful. I would appreciate your answers to this.

Tell me, is it normal for a 16 year old male to aspire to being a Dentist or am I out of the norm? FULL POINTS REWARDED FOR MOST HELPFUL!

Okay,
1) take as many dual credit courses you can while in highschool. (d.c. is when you receive college credit for the classes at a much cheaper rate!) Try to take classes like Anatomy & Physiology, Chemistry, College Algebra, and even the basic College English... It depends on what YOUR school offers.

2) That is up to your college. More than likely they'll put you as a Bio/Chem major or a Pre-Med major. Because Dental School comes after 4 years of basics...

3)Basically, you answer this yourself. Only you know what types you are interested in. Google them. Check it all out... (You don't have to know specifics for a LONG time)

4) Research your local colleges first, then go for the bigger cities.

5) I've known what I was to do since... oh, 14...?? so ya, go for your dreams. Don't limit yourself.

I'm not sure about the other things but I know someone who was interested in dentistry in high school and he asked one of the dental offices in our area(Tampa) if he could come in and observe for a few weeks he got allot of insight into how dentistry works and a real feel for the profession. That could be a starting point for you.And I don't think its abnormal to have a goal or to know what you want to do at 16 however I would want to know all I could about the profession to see if its something I really wanted to do before I worry about classes and college. You have plenty of time.
