Is non-alcoholic mouth wash better to use than mouth wash with alcohol?!

Question: I don't believe so. Alcohol usually gives the mouthwash antimicrobial properties, not all non alcoholic mouthwashes are antimicrobial. The only non alcoholic antimicrobial mouthwash that can be easily found otc is the crest pro health, which works pretty much like listerine and does not burn your mouth. Non alcoholic rinses usually contains fluoride for cavities prevention(act, phosflur),or are used to treat dry mouth (oasis, biotene). The difference btw Listerine and Crest is that Listerine is on the top of the list because it has been tested by the American Dental Association to verify its antimicrobial action, the crest has not.

hell nah! I likes to get my drink on and get my hygenes done at da same time!

I love leeroy, and I agree with him. Haha!

Also, Non alcoholic mouth was doesn't give you that pain in the butt burn..... But I can't really tell you any more than that

If you are taking "MEDICATION," that says:
"Do not take with alcohol." Then use the "non-alcoholic."
As with all medical advice. Check with your "doctor." <}:-})

Alcohol is put in mouthwash to make your gums absorb it and give you that STRONG smell.better..it kills bacteria but there are other ingredients that are just as effective and maybe more effective. Print this out and when you go buy mouthwash look for these ingredients:
alexidine, 2-ethylhexyl bisbiguanidine dihydrochloride

Also any of the antibacterial mouthwashes work just as well.
Also swishing your mouth with pure hydrogen peroxide will do wonders...for your teeth and gums. Keep it to 3 times a week and dont swallow it.

1st: I want to rectify 2 things:

1) if you take meds that do not mix with alcool, it does not change anything, as you dont swallow the mouthwash and because the concentration is insignificantly low.

2) dont rince with peroxyde... it does dammage your gingiva and is suspected to be carcinogen.

All the mouthwash but those prescribed and those with fluoride (fluorince by oralb) does the same thing... not any one is superior in effect with one small exception: listerine, which research showed a superior effect. this one contain alcool. The ingredients in the listerine do not mix well togheter(as water dont mix with oil) therefore they use the alcool to make those ingredients mixable... the non alcoolic mouthwash have other ingredients which mix well, and that why they dont add alcool, since alcool only have side effect in the mouthwash.

So yes the mouthwash with alcool is better, but thats not because of the alcool... the alcool purpose is to help making the solution, thats it.

If you're using the mouth wash to help prevent cavities and such, then i recommend ACT. my dentist has me using it, and he claims its one of the best. I have the green bottle.
