I saw a girl today with a piercing between her two front teeth, on the gum line.!

Question: It was so weird.

Wouldn't that hurt / bleed, a LOT?

And what of the whole "tooth enamel" issue?

If it was actually between her front teeth, it was probably fake or some incredibly odd and risky piercing that no reasonable piercer would perform.

The MUCH more likely possibility is that it was a "lip frenulum" piercing, very often known publicly as a Smiley piercing. This goes through the little bit of skin that connects your upper lip to your gums.

These piercings do sting, but they aren't excruciatingly painful. The skin pierced is usually very thin, and often the piercings migrate out in a few months. This means the jewlery slowly moves through the tissue and falls out.

It is possible for the jewlery to wear down your tooth enamel. This is why it's fortunate that most of these piercings are temporary. Since the piercing doesn't last too long, there isnt an opportunity for it to do a great deal of damage.

The same sort of piercing can be done on the lower lip frenulum as well. It's often called a Frownie.

Personally I'm not a fan of Smilies, but that doesn't mean they're disgusting.

i dont know, but i have to say that that is just discusting, some ppl are such freaks!

Any piercing or tatoo is gross.

ewwww thats disgusting

Hilarious, the things folk do. LOL

how ridiculous. Whatever next?!

ha ha ya I have seen that done... when i was getting my belly button done the girl in front of me had that done cause she was too scared to get her bellybutton done.... WHAT??? that seems way worse to me... well it wasnt actually on her gum line it was through that little peice that connects from inside of your lip to your gums... stick your tounge up there... yep you feel it... that would hurt! and Im sure it cant be good for your teeth....

she sounds like a right idiot if you ask me.

"It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of good fortune must be in want of a wife"

whats that supposed to mean?

That would be impossible. I doubt if it is genuine because you would pierce bone.

A very foolish girl!!! Keep those rings out of your mouth!! DMD here

it was more then likely a stick on jewel which is stuck on using cement its actually quite popular with young girls
