Is it normal for the teeth AROUND an extracted molar to be more sensitive & !

Question:

Is it normal for the teeth AROUND an extracted molar to be more sensitive & throb a week after extraction?

I had the #18 molar removed a week ago. Since then the tooth in front of that tooth is extremely sensitive and throbbing all the way into my jaw and even into my neck. The extraction site is not swollen and seems to be healing normally and I am not sure it is dry socket because the pain is alleviated for a couple hours with Ibuprofen. Can nerves be overly senstive and aggravated by a nearby extraction?

Additional Details

Also..the area around the extraction is definately beginning to close up...the gum is a normal color and is just a little sore around the perimeter of the extraction. But my neck and jaw are quite painful.
