How bad does getting a cavity filled hurt ? Plz tell me the truth !?!
Question: Ok I am feaking angry at my dentist ...cuz about 3 months ago I went to get three baby teeth pulled and one grown up tooth as well ...( I have braces though so they pushed the space together ) the dang novicain shop hurt ( my gums are so sencitive ) my stupid cousin said it wasonly a pinch ( yah well that was a hard pinch ) then they pulled the first baby tooth ( yah it hurt ) so anyways she said that the novicain must not work on me if its hurting this much ( I have a very high tolerance for meds , not for pain though ) so I said crap I am leaving then if it hurts this bad , then my mom was like no your not ..you need it done .... so I sat back down ..then they pulled the other one and it didn't hurt it was just like a pop ..then OMG when they were pulling the grown up tooth I hurt like H3ll I was digging my nails into the arms of the seet ....and screaming at the top of my lungs and crying I was like trying to get off the chair ....( the assistant feltbad forme she started crying ..

Ive had lots of teeth filled and they do give you novocaine and then drill into your teeth until all the nasty part of your tooth is gone and fill it up. Some of my teeth werent that bad so i didnt even get novocaine for those and it doesnt hurt at all, the only time it hurts is when it gets close to your gums. SO it wo uld depend on how deep your cavity is and if you are still really worried you can ask them to put you to sleep so you dont feel anything at all.
you must be from america, well im a nurse here in australia, and what you gotts do is get some lidocaine GEL thats what they put on the gum BEFORE the novocaine injection. SOme dentists put a tiny dab there fore it bloody hurts!
WHat you can do is get teething gel from your local drug store/ pharmacy and put HEAPS on the gum, that way your gums are nice and numb and you wont feel the needle. If your not completely numb tell em and they have to give you another one.
Getn a cavity filled is nothing, bit a drillin, bit a fillin and away you go... dont stress hun.
Sorry to hear that you had a bad experience. It may have been that they didn't wait long enough for the medication to take affect. They may not have given you a large enough dose either.
Getting the cavities filled should not be a big deal, if they are small as you say. They will drill out the bad part, and then put in the filling and you are done. You shouldn't have to get medication to numb you, unless they are deep.
If you don't like your Dentist, then go to another one, but please don't ignore you teeth. You need them for a bunch of years to come.
I am in the exact same situation as you the medication that they put on there did not work for me, the first two times I got my teeth pulled out which totoled to around 9 teeth in total getting pulled out I screamed and cried like crazy, just like you I got up and starting leaving, but then my father pushed me back and said this was a necessary treatment, though I didn't know how. The third time I went I got four adult teeth and one baby tooth pulled out and I had a cavity filled. Honestly I had to say it hurt bad, because what they do i try to dig it out, then they take something that feels like a drill, and drill the tooth, it doesn't hurt as bad becasue it's on top of the tooth and not at the roots. You will be able to feel your tooth "move" a little bit. After you get the treatment completed you will have to eat soft foods, such as rice and yogurt (plain), pudding, or spagetti. So I told you the truth, but I will tell you something else, afterwords if your parents are like mines you will get treated like royalty.
um tell them last time it hurt fix it or u dont get a pay check.
it hurts BAD!!!!!!!!!!! to me at least... i've had 7 teeth pulled, and so much more..the only thing that really hurts when getting a filling is the shots....it hurts so much b/c the shots are so skinny, and small, but their LONG! the pain hurts so so Bad! last time i got one i ended up having a seizure, and my body completely gave out, causing it to spazz out, and doing weird things...... but i have a very low tolerance for pain, so that explains alot.... i'm sorry that this is bad news! but i hope it's what you wanted!
I never had anything for them to fill a cavity.. Better get it taken care of before it's a root canel.. THAT HURTS!

when i was a little kid i had about maybe...hmm 3 cavities in my life so far? and they didnt hurt that bad...seriously idk what they were using for you cuz i just had the regular needle thing in my gum (my doc called it "sleepy-juice" lol) and yeah it hurt a bit but i just closed my eyes.
ok i will tell u the truth i had to have 3 cavities filled last year and it doesn't hurt at all, at the end of the procedure i couldn't tell they gave me a shot nothing was hurt AT ALL! u will be fine i hope u get it filled soon! :) good luck!!!!!
