I have a small, sore spot on my incisive fossa on the top part of my mouth behin!

Question:

I have a small, sore spot on my incisive fossa on the top part of my mouth behind my two front teeth. Cause?

It's been hurting for about 2 days.

Answers:

Most like it is a scrape or burn from something you ate. Often my patients aren't even aware that they have traumatized themselves even when I see a obvious sore area. You can rinse with salt water (warm water 8 ounces to 1 teaspoon of salt) and it should go away pretty quickly. It is also possible that you have the Varicella Zoster virus (chicken pox virus) since it affects the palate (roof of the mouth) and these lesions can last up to 2 - 3 weeks before healing. I really expect it is trauma though. Hope that helps!
