They will hun don't worry you should be able to eat normally around 5-7 days after you got them on. Its totally worth it, hang in there! Some food that helps it ice cream (yum!), milk shakes and smoothies. they are really good, you don't need to chew them and they somewhat numb your teeth. :) Good luck!

Yea it'll stop hurting within a few days. For now just take some advil or ibprofen. But dont worry it'll stop hurting soon. It hurt really bad when i first got mine on too.

Could someone answer my question! http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

yeah, since they got tightened it is really painful but for sure it will go away like tomorrow. braces are painful but you will have a beutiful smile after?

yes , after 2-3 days it gets better

it will go away ofter a few days....i PROMISE.
the first day i got mine on it hurt soo bad to talk... but after a few days the pain went away.
the first few days are the worst....next time you go to the orthodontist it will hurt for a few days afterward, but nothing will hurt as bad as the first time (at least thats what happened to me)
i think you should take some advil or tylenol (it helps TRUST ME)

good luck!

aw hun, it'll be okay. i PROMISE you they get better. you'll need about a week to get used to them, at least that's about how long it took me. and then you WILL be able to eat real food. in the meantime, treat yourself to milkshakes, and maybe take some tylenol or asprin or advil.
good luck, it WILL get better!!

awww. Trust me it does!!! If it didn't I don't know what I would have done for two whole years. Probably within a day or day they will be feeling fine. :)

1. The roots of your teeth are firmly gripped by your gums.
2. Braces work by "breaking" this grip. This causes shifting of the teeth, inflammation, and much pain.
3. After about 2 days, the teeth will stop shifting, the inflammation will decrease, and the gums will again "grip" the tooth root. Your pain will decrease.
4. Right now, you can decrease the inflammation with anti-inflammatories such as Motrin or Aleve. It won't stop the pain, but it can help.
5. When you go in for your monthly braces adjustment, the cycle will start again. You may want to take your anti-inflammatory medication 30 minutes before your appointment.
6. After several months, your teeth will be in better alignment and the adjustment won't hurt so much or for so long, because the teeth won't need to move as far.

I lost 30 pounds when I had braces. I learned that you can put food in a blender and drink it. Soups, yogurt, mashed potatoes, jello. You can even put a chili dog in a blender if you get desperate enough.

As the other posters said, you'll feel better in a couple of days. We promise!

:( I have braces too. They suck big time. What I do When My braces hurt really bad is just keep up on advil. You know how the bottle says "Can take every 4-6 hours"? Well do that. Every 4 hours take 2 advil (if it hurts REALLY bad you can take 3). Also you can drink tea and hot chocolate to soothe the pain for a while, the hot helps the ache. Well hope I helped!! good luck!
