Ever get an implant? veneer or braces?!

Question: One of my front teeth is pushed ahead of the others because of over crowding. It is not twisted or crooked. It is just out a bit, and I absolutely hate it. It drives me insane because I am a smiley person, and it has put a big hit on my ego over the past few years. It was never noticeable to me growing up because It was normal. It slowly but surly gotten worse with age. I didn't really take extreme notice of it until I turned 19. I am 23 now so, it is time to get rid of it, because I can't be bothered with it any longer.

I seen the dentist and he said my teeth are great, and he would feel bad to take it out and implant it. He said to do braces, but it would take 3 - 5 years. There is no way in hell I am wearing braces that long, at this age. I would rather have it knocked out, and replaced with a phony tooth.

What do you people think?
Has anyone ever had an implant done?
How real does it look and do they have to whiten your other teeth to match its colour?
Are they sturdy?

If you don't want to invest the time in braces, you might consider a crown or a less invasive veneer. A crown could cost you about $1000 and a veneer a little more. An implant is quite expensive. Between the implant and the crown that would go over the implant it could run you as much as $4000. A crown and veneer would have to be redone in as little as 5 years or it could last you 20 years. To be honest, if I were your age I would have a consultation with an orthodontist who specializes in Invisilign. I know most dentists would have a hard time extracting a perfectly good tooth if there are other options available to you. Once it's gone, it's gone....Implants have a pretty high success rate and they don't decay, so that's a plus. Whatever option you choose, the crown, veneer, or implant, the dentist will match the shade to your other teeth. If you have any staining he/she may suggest bleaching your teeth first.

DO NOT GET BRACES! iff it's only one tooth i would'nt bother braces were the worst experience of my life get an implant my brother got one and its perfectly fine looks great and its sturdy and they should try to match it as well as they can! good luck

My sister (20) has an implant and a bridge on her upper front teeth. Her teeth were ground down to little stubs barely coming out of her gums, then a fake tooth or a few fake teeth are secured to your actual (now stubby) teeth. At her first appointment, she came home with teeth that were a little big for her mouth, but the implants only come in so many different sizes. They were not permanent and she soon after that had the final ones put in. They match the color of her other teeth very nicely and are perfect. I'm jealous of the look now but not jealous of what she went through to get them. She wore braces for almost 4 years and then this.

They are sturdy. They won't fall out or anything. Probably better than real teeth. Go ahead and do it.

I have a veneer,
They put black coloring inside the veneer to match the color of your teeth presently, and the veneer cannot be whitened. They offer usually 2 different brands of vaneers, one last about 2 years and is about 250 dollars and one last 8-10 years and cost me 950.00 (no health insurance)
They'll numb you and you will be awake during the procedure, and im not going to lie, afterwords your going to be misserable for the first 12 horus, after the soreness wears off (usually about 3 days max) you can eat reg food (like ribs, sandwiches ect)
