Few Questions About Sedation?!

Question: Hi Guys, I Am a Big scardy cat of the dentist and have been having the same problems with this One Tooth for a while now
My Dentist has booked me in for a Sedation For This Thursday
And The Main Thing Im Scared About Is Actually Going Into la la land, And I Would Like To No if Sedation Will Bloke The Pain Barrier When They Pull My Teeth Out

What Is It Like And What Do They Do And Do U Feel Any Pain

Here we go. You get in the chair the assistant gets you seated and ready for the dentist. He may take x-rays. The dentist will probe around with sharp instrument does not hurt. He will have you to keep your mouth open all this time and that does get uncomfortable. He will then take something that looks like a large q-tip and swap your gum where you are going to get the shot. After a few minutes he will give you a shot in the gum in several places this is the worst for me. You wait and then he starts drilling to get all of the decay out. Then he clamps something around the tooth he is filling . All this time you have your mouth open wide and it is getting tired. They are also running a suction to get rid of blood and water. After he fills the little bracket he has clamped around your teeth he packs this material down. He then files this down. He has you to bite down on paper move your jaw from side to side and back and forth. After he does this you are done. Your jaw is numb and to me it hurts as the numbness is wearing off but nothing as bad as a toothache. When all the numbness is gone it hurts where the needle went in your gum. The next day you are fine and so happy all of this is over. No the shots want wear off and if they do just gasp or raise your hand and he will give you some more. It really is not that bad. Good Luck.

No you don't feel any pain. You still know what's going on, but at the same time you feel out of it. You might have a little headache afterwards, but it is nothing big.

Basically, you won't remember anything. While sedation doesn't necessarily mean no pain is going on, the brain will not sense/record it, so you won't feel it.

I was sedated a couple of years ago to have a tooth out. To be honest i dont remember anything. They give you an injection into your vein on the back of your hand and before you know it your awake and its all over. Personally i didnt feel anything and you just feel really tired and want to go to sleep. Good luck you will be fine!!
