Severe Tooth Pain how do I get rid of it until I see the dentist?!

Question:

Severe Tooth Pain how do I get rid of it until I see the dentist?

I have a severe tooth ache that has kept me up for 2 days. I can't eat and it hurts to even stand up. The dentist can't see me until June 4th. How can I ease the pain. I have taken lots of tylenol 1's with codeine but there not even working.

As a dentist myself I highly recommend calling your dentist and telling him/her that your toothache has worsened. If your dentist still will not see you then please try calling another dentist or visiting your local ER as you could have an infection in your tooth (Abscessed Tooth) which is extremely painful and very dangerous as this infection can spread into the throat and cause airway obstructions or to the heart and brain causing sometimes fatal complications. From the sounds of your question it sounds like you are going to need to be prescribed a strong antibiotic and some pain medication, if your dentist will not see you or call this in for you then you will need to see a doctor at the emergency room. I hope this helps, but PLEASE get this tooth seen about as soon as possible. Until then try taking Motrin as this will help ease the pain and help with any inflammation. Use a COLD compress and avoid using heat under any circumstances as this can cause the infection to worsen and spread.
