Use cloves, they are an herb you can find inalmost any grocery store. You can makea very strong tea out of them to gargle with, or use them crushed. You can also use Oragel when your not at home. Your teeth will only hurt for about 3 days, and same with after most tightens, I had braces a few years ago. Good luck!

yea they suck its normal ive had mine off 7 years and i still have scars

I dont know about your tongue but on this magnet thing I got when I got my braces it says to use salt water and rinse out your mouth.

i know how you feel just eat pizza eve though they tell you not to cut it up into small pieces. put ice on your tongue the pain will last for about a week or 3 days. wait till you get them tightened

yea... it will be like tht for exactly 2 days (at least thts wat it was for me)
all you can really do is take advil ( it helps if you take it 30 min. before your appointment so it will be working right wen you get them tightened) and eat soft foods like applesauce, yougurt, soup, and frappachinos (YuM!!) in the mean time.

good luck through your braces journey! It's totally worth it!

its only normal if you got an appliance on the roof of your mouth. then that appliance rests on the tongue, makin it hurt

Orajel works like a charm. I had braces on for 7 years and every time they do something to your braces it is going to hurt. You just apply it to the gum and the pain just fades and the area becomes numb. Just make sure not to get it on your tongue or else that will be numb too. You should keep some on hand for every time you have to go back to be adjusted. Here is a link to what it looks like.

My orthodontist actually recommended it, you can find it anywhere that they sell medication.

Hope that Helps,
Jess

well...there isnt really any other way to help besides medicine that i know of, but it is normal to have your tongue or cheek or lip or whatever hurt.
