Braces & pain relief?!

Braces & pain relief?
I just got a bigger wire on the top braces, I don't have bottom braces yet, but they put in the spacers yesterday.
This is the worst pain, every tooth is aching, forget chewing, I just need to sleep.
I've taken ibuprofen with no results, does anyone have any other pain relief suggestions until this lets up?

i had painful braces for years...try eating yogurt (frozen or not) and jello until you feel comfortable again. anything squishy is now your friend when it comes to eating.
also, try a cold compress (washcloth with ice in it) on your cheeks; this will help numb the whole face and relieve some of the pain.
