Does the pain originate in my teeth or in my mind?!

Question:

Does the pain originate in my teeth or in my mind?

It's been too long since I've been to the dentist, and I just called for an appointment. Considering my genetics and past experiences, I have a feeling these teeth will need quite a bit of work and probably multiple fillings.

What I notice though is that the more I think about the holes that might be in my teeth, the more I tend to feel like there is pain in there. They feel really sensitive.

Who thinks I'm psyching myself out, vs. feeling actual pain from possible cavities??

Answers:

Psyching yourself out is what I would say... had the same thing with one of my teeth, the more I thought that my filling fell off (which it didn't, but at first I thought it did..) the more I thought my teeth was starting to hurt, when in fact there was nothing there to begin with heh.

Then again, some of your teeth MAY be sentitive because it's been a while since you've visited a dentist and might need some work on them... it's best to get it checked out though. I took a long time before I started taking care of my teeth and now I just had to go through a root canal today heh... not fun, but at least i'm pain free again. :P
