Are there other ways of pushing my top jaw out a little bit so that I dont have to go through being wired shut.

Answers:

My husband was born completely without a palate(severest form of cleft palate) and a double cleft lip. He had 16 surgereis to reconstruct his face as a child and his gums inside are all at different levels so his bite is off too. Teeth also grow at odd angles. The doctors wanted to break his jaw to straighten it and he refused. He can eat and he hasnt got any problems talking/beeing understood. He didnt want to have to go through the pain of having his jaw broken for something that would have been strictly cosmetic/for looks. If that is what he wants you to have it for and not because you have problems with eating or talking I would tell you not to do it. To the people who know and love you you look fine anyone else who has a problem with you looks can shove off. That is alot of pain and trouble(eating drinking) not to mention expense if it is just to make you look better.
