Trouble after root canal?!

Question:

Trouble after root canal?

I had root canal done 6-7 weeks back. Earlier, I had no pain, it was just a huge cavity. After 2 weeks of root canal they put the crown on. It was a metal crown.
I had pain in my tooth, so they did bite adjustments two times.
I still had pain. Then doctor saw that my gum was red and swollen. He said it is typical of metal reaction, so he remove the permanent crown and said let us leave it open for a few weeks.
But after removing the crown, my tooth was hurting my cheek, since the tooth was very sharp. So, I went to the dentist again. He said, wow your gum looks healed, so looks like it was metal reaction. Let us get your tooth ready for totally ceramic crown. He asked his assistant doctor to get my tooth ready for ceramic crown. As soon as she saw my X-ray, she just stopped. She went and consulted the main doctor and told me that some material which they use for cleaning the root canal has gone into my sinuses. But first they want to eliminate my metal reaction.
Anyway, my pain and swelling was still there. After a week I went to the doctor again. He said, oh temporary was touching my gum and that might be causing the swelling. So he drilled the temporary from near my gum. Also referred me to a orthodontist.
I have appointment with orthodontist tomorrow. My gum is lot less red and lot less swollen. But it is still painful. New thing is that the inside palate is kid of bruised or pimpled (broken pimple). I feel splinter like pain when I touch the gum. Tooth feels sensitive.
My pain all the time in last 6 weeks was very mild. I would rate it as 2 on 1 to 10 scale.

Answers:

You should go get a second opinion - it sounds like your dentist screwed up your root canal - you should never hurt after one is done except for maybe a day or 2 and if there is something up in your sinuses now - that means they screwed up royally - get a second opinion and if I am right, you might want to hire a lawyer.
