Why do your jaw muscles tighten when you taste something bitter?!

Question: Im not totally sure but I know that bitterness is the most sensitive of our tastes and the microvillae on our tongues send messages to our brain and facial muscles. It probably has something to do with the immediate impulse reaction from this

So it can richocete that nasty taste off your cheek!

I would guess that it has something to do with the fact that the taste buds that detect bitter and sour foods are located in the back of the mouth on the side of the tongue- right beside your jaw muscles. It's just an involuntary reaction. Thats what I would bet my money on.
