What is my mouth pain from?!

Question:

What is my mouth pain from?

I have pain in my gums behind my molars and I have no redness or bleeding, but they are swollen and hurt. They pull away from the back of the tooth and when I move my jaw or tongue it pushes it back on the tooth and hurts a lot. I got an ear ache just before the gum pain and still have one (mildly). But WHAT IS THIS PAIN? wisdom teeth perhaps? HELP ME!

Answers:

You didn't specify how old you are but it sounds as though your wisdom teeth [3rd molars] are beginning to erupt. Remember when your 1st and 2nd molars came in.....yeah, right huh? These are large teeth and always cause a lot of pain, etc. I'd suggest that you just have them checked out at your next dental apt. In the mean time, pain pills will work on the hurt, as well as some warm water held on the gum. Usually, the pain is just transient for a couple of days and then you have relief for a week or so before they let you know they're there again. Probably is about time for you to join most of the rest of the population and have them removed.
