How long would you have to wear braces in order to fix a slight overbite?!

Question: I have a slight overbite and my front teeth are a bit spacey. I want to get braces but I don't want to wear them for too long. In general, how long does it take for braces (the old fashioned metal and rubber band kind) to fix an overbite?

I have them at the moment, I've had them since 2nd March 2007, and I get them out this September-October. Treatment time is usually 1 and 1/2 years. About the head gear thing, that might be an american thing I don't kno. But here in england you can get headgear but they're not really for overbites. You have these little hooks on your braces already so then you get elastic bands over both and it pulls the teeth back into line with the other row of teeth. That's how they fix an overbite here. My friend has a major one that she could stick her thumb up through but all she has is them bands, no headgear.

My daughter had to wear them for 2 1/2 years. Her teeth are beautiful now. Talk with an orthodontist to see what they say. It will be worth it no matter how long you have to wear them.

It's not actually the braces that fix an overbite, its the headgear that accompanys the braces. Depending on if you wear them whenever your at home say reading a book or watching tv or using them only during sleep.

Id have to guess a few months. I've had braces and headgear and didnt use the headgear daily and it didnt fix anything.

I think if it is 2 years it is best

two years

i had mine for about 3 years, but mines was more than a slight over bite.

i hated it when i was wearing them, now its all in the past in i have beautiful teeth and love smiling, where before i hid my mouth and was quite shy.

depends on ur orthos decision

I had em for 2 years to fix my overbite. Although I didn't have a spaces.
