When I got my braces off in January...?
...I was giving Essex retainers to wear for a while. I finally got the Hawley retainers and have been wearing them for a few months now. However, when I tried the Essex retainers back on, they felt extremely tight and they were the exact mold of my teeth when I got my braces off. I'm really good with wearing my retainers when I'm supposed to so is it normal for the original retainers to be extremely tight?

your hawley retainers have probably become a little loose over time. this is normal, usually caused by flicking them up and down/playing with them with your tongue. so your teeth have shifted very slightly. essex retainers are very precise, so it is normal for them to feel tight now. make an immediate appointment with your orthodontist to have your hawley retainers adjusted, you may be a little sore because they will help move your teeth back to where they were when you wore your essex. everything should be fine, just follow all instructions your doctor gives you very carefully. please email me if you have any more questions at all.
